Meet Dr. Sydney Sherman

Education and Experience

Growing up with Dr. Lenhart for a father, it was only natural for Dr. Sydney Sherman to gravitate toward the field of orthodontics. She witnessed firsthand how an orthodontist can make a difference in patient’s lives—in not only their smiles and health, but their confidence as well. She saw her father build relationships with families who, now several years later, have brought the next generation of patients to our office. Developing these relationships, based on trust, compassion, and transparency, is what Dr. Sherman hopes to foster as a part of Lenhart Orthodontics.

Dr. Sherman attended Hillsdale College and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology in 2014, before attending the University of Michigan for her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. During dental school, she was selected for the American College of Dentists Student Leader Award, the American Association for Dental Research Student Research Fellowship, the Willmarth and Marion Paine Scholarship, the Gertrude C. Benson Scholarship, and the Bertha Walker Scholarship. She was the President of the Xi Psi Phi Dental Fraternity, the Vice President of the Student Council, and was Vice President and Co-Founder of the Orthodontics Club. She graduated from the University of Iowa in June 2020, completing her Master of Science in Orthodontics, and starting her journey as an orthodontist. She has a special interest in using temporary anchorage devices (TADs) in orthodontic treatment.

“My dad’s passion for orthodontics has inspired me to pursue a career I love. I am so thankful that he introduced me to this great profession. I am challenged every day to use my knowledge to serve my patients and help them achieve beautiful smiles. Orthodontics allows me to get to know my patients personally and watch them grow and change over their treatment and beyond. Oral health is such an important part of overall health, and smiles are such a beautiful part of who we are!” – Dr. Sherman
